Patriots and Falcons Leading the Super Bowl 51 Odds

With four teams left standing the two favorites in this weekend’s conference championship games are also the top favorites to win Super Bowl 51 on the latest Super Bowl 51 odds.
The New England Patriots remain the overall Super Bowl favorite once again this week. Appearing in the AFC Championship Game for the sixth consecutive season, the Patriots are a +150 favorite on the latest Super Bowl futures. New England rolled over the Houston Texans in a 34-16 rout in their playoff opener last week. That earned them a matchup with the Pittsburgh Steelers this week.
The Steelers are a 6-point road underdog versus the Patriots this weekend, which has caused the oddsmakers to bump them down to the bottom of the Super Bowl 51 odds. The Steelers are +425 underdogs on the futures, which is up from the +800 odds they were getting a week ago.
Earlier this season the Steelers lost to New England 27-16 as a 7-point home underdog. They can take some solace in the fact that they were missing starting quarterback Ben Roethlisberger in that matchup. Pittsburgh enters the matchup having won their last nine games, but they’ve had trouble posting wins against New England lately. Including their loss against the Patriots earlier this season the Steelers have dropped their last three versus New England and nine of their last 12.
In between the Patriots and the Steelers on the Super Bowl 51 odds are the NFC Championship Game opponents, the Atlanta Falcons and the Green Bay Packers.
The two teams have traded places when compared to last week’s futures. Atlanta is now getting better odds at +260, while Green Bay trails them at +350. Last week Green Bay was listed at +700 and the Falcons were a +950 underdog.
In this weekend’s matchup the Falcons are a 4-point home favorite. Being listed as the underdog isn’t horrible news for the Packers. Last week they upset the Dallas Cowboys 34-31 as a 5-point underdog and they’ve won their last three games when listed as an underdog. The Packers are also riding an eight-game winning streak, which includes winning their last four road games.
The Falcons won’t just roll over for the Packers as they proved last week in their impressive 36-20 win over the Seattle Seahawks as a 6.5-point favorite. Atlanta has already handled Green Bay once this season, defeating them 33-32 as a 3-point home favorite back in Week 8. At home the Falcons are 5-1 straight up in their last six games when favored by at least four points.
Recent results in the conference championship games also favor the favorites moving on this weekend. In the last three seasons the favorites are 5-1 SU during conference championship weekend. The home team has also reigned supreme at 6-0 SU in the last three seasons.
