Vikes take over No. 2 spot in Super Bowl futures odds

With just one week remaining in the NFL regular season, the New England Patriots remain the favorite to win Super Bowl 52.
On the latest Super Bowl 52 futures odds, New England is a +240 favorite. The Pats clinched their playoff spot and first place in the AFC East a few weeks ago. The only thing they have left to play for this week is the No. 1 seed in the AFC, which would give them home-field advantage throughout the postseason. That seems like a given considering they’re facing the New York Jets as a 15.5-point home favorite.
Moving up into the No. 2 slot in the futures are the Minnesota Vikings. The Vikings were listed at +700 last week but moved up to +375 after shutting out the Green Bay Packers last week. Minnesota has clinched the No. 2 seed in the NFC and gets a first-round bye.
With Minnesota moving up, that means the Pittsburgh Steelers were bumped down to No. 3 at +475. That’s still better than the +600 odds they had last week. The Steelers have a shot at the top seed in the AFC, if New England loses this week and they can top the winless Cleveland Browns. Pittsburgh has clinched the first-round bye, but their Super Bowl chances could depend on how quickly wide receiver Antonio Brown can return from injury.
Next on the futures odds are the New Orleans Saints, Philadelphia Eagles and Los Angeles Rams, all at +1000. All three teams are in the postseason with the Eagles getting a bye and the Saints and Rams still waiting to see who their first-round opponents will be. Despite their first-round bye, the Eagles may be in trouble after their offense disappeared last week in a win over the Oakland Raiders.
The other three teams on the futures that have clinched playoff spots are the Jacksonville Jaguars at +1400, and the Kansas City Chiefs and Carolina Panthers, both at +1800.
The rest of the futures list is comprised of teams that need to win in Week 17 to have a shot at the postseason. For the Atlanta Falcons and Baltimore Ravens, both at +2800 on the odds, if they win in Week 17, they’re in. Baltimore has an easier path with a home game against the Cincinnati Bengals, whom they defeated 20-0 earlier this season. Atlanta has a much tougher matchup against the Panthers.
The Tennessee Titans are also in the postseason with a win this week but they’re getting much worse odds at +7,500. The Titans are 6-point home favorites against Jacksonville this week but they’ve lost three straight and are 2-7 SU in their last nine versus the Jaguars.
Rounding out the Super Bowl futures are three teams that need to win and get help this week to get into the postseason. That includes the Los Angeles Chargers and Seattle Seahawks at +7,500 and the Buffalo Bills at +15,000. If you think any of those teams can sneak into the postseason and go on a run all the way to a title, a bet on those profitable odds could be worth it.
